You can take the virus from a person who shows the sign of the infection, or from a person who doesn’t have the signs, but who continues to eliminate the virus.

blisters break, making a crust that heals.

The symptoms that appear when you are infected for the first time contain fever, headache, and a burning sensation at urination, muscle pains and swollen ganglia. When the virus enters the organism for the first time, you get to experience its symptoms for at least a few weeks. After this, the virus goes to the nervous system, where it remains inactive until there are some factors that reactivate it.

The first episode of genital herpes is usually the one with the most pain, and it requires the longest time for recovery. The pain and the healing time will decrease from one episode to another, and the factors that reactivate the disease can vary from person to person. Keep in mind that the stress, some illnesses, the surgical interventions, the sexual contact, a diet or even the period for women can determine the reappearance of the herpes.

In the case when the patient experiences often episodes or recurrent herpes, the treatment of genital herpes is made with antiviral medication, administered for a longer period of time.

No medication can eradicate this virus from the organism, as it remains inside the body once the person is infected with it. It can stay inactive for a longer period of time, until you experience something that reactivates it.

Apart from this, you need to keep the infected area clean, to avoid spreading the infection to other parts of the body. It’s better if you also avoid touching the infected area and washing your hands thoroughly if you have touched that place. It’s also important that you avoid sexual contact since the appearance of the first symptoms until you are healed of the genital herpes. In addition to this, you can also use condoms, even if you show no visible signs of the illness.
